The Bird is the Word!

Happy Turkey Day! What started out as a small, intimate dinner including us and my parents exploded into a 26 person feast. I always say the more the merrier so bring it on! We entertained many from my dad's side of the family. We cooked the bird, mashed the potatoes, roasted the carrots and whipped the sweet potato casserole. Everyone else had an assignment to make the feast complete. My mom did her fair share. She provided the turkey, peeled the potatoes and made her famous stuffing. We couldn't have pulled it off without her help. Thanks mom! So we set up 2 big banquet tables complete with candlelight and our little family sat at our dining table. I was able to use my buffet servers for the first time. Everything was delish and we all had a great time. Of course I always have to take it up a notch, so each person had a place card that was an envelope with their name on it. Each envelope contained a blank sheet of paper. After dinner we passed around the envelopes so each person had a different one other than their own. Each of us had to write something nice about that person and then share something they were grateful for. Then in the end we got our own envelope back and could read and weep. I thought it would be nice to have everyone leave feeling a little better than when they arrived. I think we achieved it and we were happy to be surrounded by those we love! Everyone dined and dashed and that is the only thing that I would do different next year! Make sure people linger a little longer. Yes, we enjoyed it so much that we hope to do it again. I am grateful for my family and my Saviour Jesus Christ who allows me to love and be loved!
